Bunny McGarry is a man on a mission. He left behind his life in Ireland to go to New York to find the woman he loves, who happens to have a lot of very dangerous people looking for her. The good news is that they don’t know where she is, the bad news is that Bunny doesn’t either and the only people that do are a rogue order of nuns called The Sisters of the Saint who have raised not being found to the level of art form.

Bunny’s one clue is a priest he thinks might know something, but Father Gabriel de Marcos isn’t willing to play ball. The padre runs a boxing club at the bad end of the Bronx, battling to keep kids out of gangs – noble, thankless work. Thing is, saints don’t typically have assassins sent after them. What sins are hidden in this priest’s mysterious past? Bunny has no choice but to save Gabriel from the demons that are on his tail. He has to manage all this while living under the rules that chill him to the very bone. No drinking. No swearing. No violence.

I Have Sinned is book two in the McGarry Stateside series, a continuation of the smash hit Dublin Trilogy which also featured Bunny McGarry. It melds high-octane action with a distinctly Irish acerbic wit.

Loved it

The reader of this series is seriously one of the best I've ever heard!

......But only because he's on the side of the angels!

Another great book. Bunny is a great character, and for me the very best part of the books. The stories are delightfully written, characters are developed and each has their own personality and quirks. The references used, to other books or films are great, and I can devour these books in a very short space of time, so I'm glad there are quite a few available.
Pick them up, you won't regret it.
For audible listeners...the narrator is perfect!

Outstanding!

Mr McDonnell has a quite remarkable knack of telling a story.

Over the past year I’ve listened to:
All 3 ‘Stranger Times’ books
All 8 books in the Dublin Trilogy (I have no idea either)
All 4 main books in the McGarry Stateside series (book 1.5 isn’t available as a standalone but is part of the ‘Shorts’ collection that I will get around to)

and both of the MCM Investigations books

I’ll leave it to you as to whether that makes me a superfan or a weird creepy stalker/listener. What I can say is that without fail every single one of these books has been brilliant, well crafted and highly enjoyable listens. I’ve even forgone listening to new work by Jodi Taylor to catch up with Bunny McGarry and friends. Also any author who names a character after their dog gets my vote whatever.

Whilst you, dear review reader don’t know me from Adam I shall still impart a little wisdom for you. Listen to the 8 Dublin Trilogy books and the 2 MCM Investigations before embarking on ‘Stateside’. It make a lot more sense, however it you choose to ignore my advice they work anyway.

A couple of final points - Whatever they’re paying Morgan C Jones to narrate these titles isn’t enough and keep an eyes on Ciamh’s website as he quite often has special offers on his books.

Bunny is my favorite character and half wish he was really roaming in the US so I might run into him
